Water – Photo 101

This post is in response to Photography 101 assignment – Day 3 Water:

“The only noise now was the rain, pattering softly with the magnificent indifference of nature for the tangled passions of humans.”

Sherwood Smith

The Voice Of The Rain – Poem by Walt Whitman

And who art thou? said I to the soft-falling shower,
Which, strange to tell, gave me an answer, as here translated:

 burst

I am the Poem of Earth, said the voice of the rain,
Eternal I rise impalpable out of the land and the bottomless sea,
Upward to heaven, whence, vaguely form’d, altogether changed, and
yet the same,

dav

I descend to lave the drouths, atomies, dust-layers of the globe,
And all that in them without me were seeds only, latent, unborn;
And forever, by day and night, I give back life to my own origin,
and make pure and beautify it;

dav

(For song, issuing from its birth-place, after fulfilment, wandering,
Reck’d or unreck’d, duly with love returns.)

Have a great day!

  1. The quote desribes the sound of the rain so well and your photos are lovely. Watching raindrops on the window or listening to ‘their voice’ at night is one of the simple and natural pleasures of life.

  2. Such simple pictures that complement your beautiful words so well! I have used your post as inspiration for post #143 on “You Inspire me” It’s scheduled for the 20th and linked back to you. I hope you like it!
